NY Fashion Week - Spring 2008 - I Spy - Ruffles

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Everything was very feminine during NY fashion week. I guess it’s not cool to dress like a boy anymore. Some of what made it so feminine were the cuts, fabrics, and especially all the ruffles. See click below for the slide show or here.

NY Fashion Week - Spring 2008 - I Spy

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

It’s okay to be unbalanced.

I saw tons of assymetrical style dresses and tops. I remember a few years back (well maybe more than a few) when everyone had the one strapped tops. Well they’re going to be back in again this spring. I also like the tee shirts with only one sleeve and unbalanced halters. Take a look below. I was too lazy to upload these so take a look at them at my flickr page, or click the picture below for the slideshow.

NY Fashion Week - Spring 2008 - I Spy

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

I’m really excited for all the spring 2008 fashion shows to start. This week is New York Fashion week. Here are a few early trends I’ve spotted.

I liked how there was a lot of play with color. Some items resembled tie-dye, others looked like mixed paint on a canvas. There were a few gradient colored dresses and dresses with color blocking.

Josh Goot, Grey Ant

70’s revival - Tie-dye - The Grey Ant shirt to the left is very wearable. The Josh Goot tank is a not-so heavy handed approach to rainbow tie-dye.

Rachel Roy, Josh Goot

Finger painting - Just like in preschool except for the sake of fashion. It’s time to wear your art.

Sue Stemp, Adam

Have all the shades of your favorite color.

Josh Goot, Vena Cava, Abaete

Color by numbers. The Abaete dress to the far right will now be known as Neapolitan dress. Since its for the summer, how appropriate.

Yesstyle.com

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Allow me to introduce you to Yesstyle. I’ve been buying from this site for a while now. I saw a post on people.com’s style blog with a link to something on YesStyle so it must be catching on. YesStyle is a off shoot of YesAsia which specializes in asian media products like music, movies, dramas, and books. Their “About” section states that they are th first online retailer in Asia to globally distribute lifestyle and fashion items from that region.

They have tons and tons of clothing brands from South Korea, Hong Kong, and Japan. Everything is decently priced and they ship to the US. Even if you don’t find anything you can look a the many modeling pictures for inspiration. The way I shop is I look at different brands. I can generally get a feel for that brand’s style and look for more stuff from that brand (list of brand I like below). The only disadvantages are I wish you could view more items per page and a lot of the stuff is one size fits all. YesStyle is just one other online store to add to your arsenal.

Brands I Like
Soloist - South Korea
Blingstyle - South Korea
JSIS - South Korea
Chic Holic - South Korea
Lottie - South Korea

Personal Picks

Chic Holic - Wrapped Cardigan $25.00

Soloist - Balloon Jumper Dress - $80
